Geir Draugsvoll

Il fisarmonicista Geir Draugsvoll ha avuto una rimarchevole carriera nel corso degli ultimi decenni, sia come solista che come musicista da camera, promuovendo la fisarmonica solista in Orchestre Sinfoniche.

Grazie a collaborazioni con numerosi compositori come Sofia Gubaidulina, Anatolijus Senderovas, Staffan Mossenmark, Bent Lorentzen and Martin Lohse, Geir Draugsvoll è considerato uno dei pionieri della fisarmonica, avendo eseguito per la prima volta una vasta collezione di opere, che include “Fachwerk”, dedicatogli da Sofia Gubaidulina, ad oggi riconosciuta come una delle sue più importanti opere.

Si è esibito come solista in festival e sale da concerto in tutto il mondo, tra cui  Concertgebouw (Olanda), Alte Oper Frankfurt (Germania), Barbican Hall (Regno Unito), Mariinsky Hall (Russia), Gasteig (Germania), Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory (Russia), Gewandhaus Leipzig (Germania), Philharmonie Luxembourg, Lockenhaus Festival (Austria), Edinburgh Festival (Scozia), Rheingau Festival (Germania), Mittelfest (Italia), Konzerthaus (Germania), Musikhalle (Germania), Bergen International Festival, (Norvegia), CCB (Lisbona), NGA (Stati Uniti), Zellerbach Hall (Stati Uniti) e molti altri. 

Come solista d’orchestra si è esibito con London Symphony Orchestra, Münchener Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, Russian National Orchestra, Maggio Musicale di Firenze, Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Kremerata Baltica, Moscow Soloists, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Trondheim Soloists, Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, Münchener Kammerorchester e collabora frequentemente con direttori, tra cui Valery Gergiev, Donald Runnicles, Vasily Petrenko, Andres Mustonen, Omar Meir Wellber, Eva Ollikainen, Clemens Schuldt, David Geringas, Joana Carneiro, Marc Soustrot, Alexander Mayer, Yuri Bashmet e molti altri. 
Ha inoltre rilasciato più di 25 album con celebri case discografiche, tra cui EMI, BIS, Naxos, Simax e molte altre.

Geir Draugsvoll è di origini norvegesi e risiede oggi a Copenaghen (Danimarca), dove presiede la cattedra di Fisarmonica presso la Royal Danish Academy of Music.

The accordionist Geir Draugsvoll has made a remarkable career during the last decades, both as soloist and chamber musician, but perhaps mostly by promoting the accordion as a soloist with Symphony Orchestras. Through collaborations with numerous composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Anatolijus Senderovas, Staffan Mossenmark, Bent Lorentzen and Martin Lohse, Geir Draugsvoll must also be characterized as one of the pioneers on the accordion, and he has premiered a large number of works. This includes “Fachwerk” by Sofia Gubaidulina, which is dedicated to Geir Draugsvoll, and today widely acclaimed as one of her most important works.

He has performed as soloist all over the world in festivals and concert-arenas like Concertgebouw (Holland), Alte Oper Frankfurt (Germany), Barbican Hall (London), Mariinsky Hall (Skt. Geir Draugsvoll is Norwegian, but now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he is a Professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music.
